Resolution: Unendorse Margaret Mock

Submitted by Nolan Tabb, Navruz Baum, Dawnya Ferdinandsen, Ben Smith, Judy Wraight, Mike Cannon

Whereas, UAWD members voted to endorse Secretary-Treasurer Margaret Mock in 2022 to run on a platform of “no corruption, no concessions, no tiers;”

Whereas, UAWD took majority votes as part of our democratic endorsement process for each of our IEB candidates, and we must ensure that we can democratically hold them accountable any time during their term through unendorsement;

Whereas, UAWD raised over $200,000 and mobilized hundreds of UAWD volunteers in support of our endorsed candidates;

Whereas, Margaret Mock denied routine purchases for the Stand Up Strike;

Whereas, Margaret Mock attempted to exchange expenditure approvals for votes on the IEB;

Whereas, Margaret Mock voted against the reinstatement of the servicing credit for UAW Local 2320, upholding a retaliatory policy implemented by the Ray Curry-led IEB to punish the Local for supporting UAWD’s Members United slate;

Whereas, UAWD members and leaders raised these issues for months, but Margaret Mock has failed to provide a satisfactory explanation or commit to change these practices;

Therefore be it resolved,

  1. UAWD unendorses Margaret Mock.
  2. Margaret Mock shall lose all privileges, resources, and benefits of being endorsed by UAWD. This shall include, but not be limited to:
    1. Removal of all mention or publicity as an endorsed candidate or IEB member in future UAWD literature;
    2. No longer receiving special privileges, at UAWD membership meetings or IEB Strategy Meetings and in editing UAWD reports
    3. UAWD is free to run a candidate against Margaret Mock in the next IEB election, should she seek reelection.
