Oberlin College is ruthlessly union busting and condemning workers to poverty during an international pandemic.
Following the last four months of bad faith union negotiations, scare tactics, progressive posturing, two-faced messaging, and an outright refusal to acknowledge widespread community opposition and outrage, Oberlin College has recently revealed its final plans to subcontract 108 unionized dining and custodial positions. Let’s be clear – this is union busting. As the college strips workers of healthcare during a global pandemic and the worst job market since the 1930s, this decision will eliminate 70% of the UAW bargaining unit at Oberlin and severely undercut the UAW’s collective power.
