Workers at the Kirchhoff Automotive plant in Tecumseh went on strike Tuesday, eight days after their contract with the company expired. 

In a post Tuesday morning to the United Auto Workers Local 3000 Members Information Facebook page, local president Steve Gonzales said the strike is over poor working conditions and health and safety issues. It was called after the union and Kirchhoff management were unable to reach an agreement on a new contract.
