“Dear Community,
With your support, we have now raised more than $7,429 for Mutual Aid UCSD! Thank you so much for your support and solidarity! As always, all funds are used for direct financial aid or food/supply delivery.
As of July 2 we have disbursed over $6,630 to more than 53 community members with urgent needs, and are working to distribute the rest. We have many unmet requests and need to continue raising funds.
We are now also accepting donations via CashApp $mutualaiducsd and paypal.me/mutualaiducsd. Funds collected via this platform will be used exclusively for Mutual Aid UCSD donations/requests.
Our network continues to grow within UCSD and beyond! We now have 18 organizers, building our capacity for collective decision making. We are also very grateful to the many volunteers who have helped to deliver groceries and food and offer academic and social support.
Our basic needs committee has been fortunate to connect with many partners in our San Diego community, including Berry Good Food Foundation, UCSD Food Coop, and San Diego Face Masks Sewing Group who have donated produce, meals, and masks.
Our social needs committee has also been pairing people for social and academic check-ins, as well as helping people to access resources. At the moment, we cannot take new social needs requests, but will respond as soon as we have more capacity.
We are also coalition building with other San Diego-based organizations engaged in mutual aid and racial justice organizing to exchange best practices and amplify our collective impact. We encourage our community to follow and support these groups:
