Some staffers suspect the cuts relate to a recent effort to unionize the student health services office.
“Across the university, other furloughed workers are mainly those who genuinely cannot work remotely,” wrote members of ACT-UAW Local 7902, the union representing health services workers, in a statement.
“That the university furloughed 15 of the 19 in the health services unit in the first round of actions appears instead to be retaliation for unionizing.”
