Instructors at the institute were cut off from in-School of Professional Studies students they had been working with. Ritter confirmed that several schools formally appealed the dean’s decision because they had students that depended on the English Language Insitute’s services.

The institute’s marketing budget, moreover, was slashed during the pandemic while almost every other department’s marketing budget was increased, multiple sources said.

“They starved us of students and they starved us of resources,” said a professor who asked to remain anonymous.
