The 2024 UAWD Convention is the place for UAW members who want to build union power from the bottom up—and it’s less than a week away, September 27-29 in Southfield, Michigan at the Westin. You can still register online through Monday, September 23.

Convention registration opens Friday afternoon at 4:00 pm, the kick-off social begins at 7:00 pm. You’ll get a free drink ticket for the cash bar. Please come fed, there will only be food for snacking.

Registration will also be open Saturday morning from 8:00-9:00 am. The Saturday program begins at 9:00 pm with a general session, and workshops will run until 3:00 pm, with a break for lunch at 12:00 pm. Our Annual National Meeting, including Steering Committee elections, will take place from 3:30-5:30 pm, then a quick break before a banquet dinner at 7:00 pm.

On Sunday morning, workshops run from 9:00 am – 2:30 pm, with a break for lunch at 12:15 pm. The convention will adjourn at 3:30 pm after a closing general session.

Getting There

The convention will be held at the Westin Southfield, located at 1500 Town Center in Southfield, Michigan. Click here for directions.

Transportation from Detroit Airport (DTW)

A taxi or rideshare service like Uber or Lyft will be the fastest way to get to Convention. Expect to pay about $40 for a car from the airport. Looking for someone to split the fare? Reply to this email with your flight information.

McNamara Terminal
Taxi: Follow signs to Ground Transportation Center, located on Level 4.
Rideshare: Once across the Skybridge, continue to the bank of elevators located on Level 6 of the Ground Transportation Center. Take the elevator down to Level 4 to locate the Rideshare staging area.

Evans Terminal
Taxi: Follow signs to Ground Transportation Center, located on Level 4.
Rideshare:  Once across the Skybridge, continue through the sliding glass doors. Take the elevator or escalator on the right, down to Level 1 to locate the Rideshare staging area.

Parking

There are limited spaces in front of the hotel and more available in the parking complex right behind the hotel. Both are $10 overnight and free of charge for day use.

Food Information

Full convention registration includes breakfast and lunch on Saturday and Sunday, and dinner on Saturday. Between mealtimes, there will be food available for purchase at the hotel cafe and bar. If you have special food needs such as food allergies let us know right away and we will do our best to accommodate you.
