Below is a summary of UAWD’s Quarterly Membership Meeting on March 12, 2023. Members began the meeting by celebrating our victories over the past year, including electing UAW Members United candidates to the UAW International Executive Board.

Members then discussed resolutions submitted by UAWD members to the upcoming Bargaining Convention later this month and which we should prioritize as a caucus. On March 16, UAWD will host a training for delegates and supporters who will attend the Bargaining Convention.

UAWD members Shana Shaw, Nolan Tabb, and Becca Roskill introduced our newly launched Organizing Committee, which will have its first meeting on March 14. Members spoke out about contract demands and how to build rank-and-file strike power at locals across the country. Members are invited to join the Organizing Committee by filling out this interest form.

Jamonty Washington was elected to the Steering Committee in the new Member at Large position established at our 2022 Annual Meeting. Thank you to Jamonty and Shaun Collier for running for this important role.

Members then passed three resolutions:

  1. Inviting IEB Electeds to Regular UAWD Strategy Meetings
  2. Expectations of Continued UAWD Membership
  3. Plan to Set UAWD Organizational Priorities for 2023

Thank you to all members who participated in March’s Membership Meeting! UAWD’s next Membership Meeting will be held in the second quarter of 2023.
