UAWD’s 2022 Annual National Meeting

It’s time for UAWD’s Annual Membership Meeting! Per Article IV of the UAWD bylaws, the agenda will include nominations and elections of UAWD Steering Committee officers, as well as consideration of any proposed changes to the bylaws.

The 2022 UAWD Annual Membership Meeting will be Sunday, September 18 at 2:00 PM EST/1:00 PM CST/11:00 AM PST. This meeting is for UAWD members only. If you are a UAWD member and did not receive an email invitation, please email [email protected]. If you know someone who is thinking about joining UAWD, now is a great time for them to become a member.

The current UAWD bylaws and platform were approved by UAWD members at previous Annual Membership Meetings. If you have proposed amendments to the bylaws, proposed amendments to the platform, or a proposed membership resolution, please submit your proposals in writing to [email protected] by 11:59 PM on Friday, September 2. Please include the names of any UAWD members who support your proposal, or ask them to send a separate email; this information will be used to prioritize items within the meeting agenda. Proposals that are not time-sensitive, likely including all platform proposals, may be held for discussion until a subsequent membership meeting, which will be scheduled in the coming weeks. All proposals will be circulated in advance of the meeting.

The bylaws call for the election of half the UAWD Steering Committee positions at each Annual Meeting. This year the Steering Committee elections to be held are for:

1. Chair
2. Recording Secretary
3. Trustee (position currently held by Martha Grevatt)
4. Retiree Representative (position currently held by Michael Cannon)
5. Member at Large (position currently held by Cody Zaremba)
6. Sergeant at Arms (a new position proposed by the Steering Committee, if accepted by the membership)

Please submit your nominations for Steering Committee positions by 11:59 PM on Friday, September 2. For identification purposes, the Trustee, Retiree, and Member at Large positions up for election are currently held by Martha Grevatt, Michael Cannon, and Cody Zaremba.

Since last year’s meeting, we won the One Member One Vote referendum and brought real democracy to the UAW Constitutional Convention for the first time in decades. This coming year, we need all hands on deck to continue our fight for the future of the UAW. Your participation will help us in our quest to bring democracy to the UAW and reshape our union, in a progressive way, for years to come.
